Crayfish Name: Marble Crayfish/ Marmokrebs (Procambarus sp.)
Origin: Discovered in Germany but that is not their origin as natural populations of this cancer is unknown.
Description: This cancer has a camouflaged appearance with light and dark brown colors. Often viewed as aggressive but that is not true. They can live with other tanks mates in peace, but they are known to be aggressive towards each other. Sometimes they have cannibalistic tendencies. They prefer lots of hiding space as they can be quiet shy. When fully mature they can grow to 8-10cm. Lifespan is longer than 3 years if properly taken care of. They feed on plants, dead leaves, fish flakes as well as pellets.
Water Parameters: This specie is quiet hardy and will do well in any water parameters. They can also survive in sub-zero temperatures. Furthermore, they can tolerate various water conditions but regular water changes are essential to their longetivity.
Sexing: All species are FEMALE only.
Breeding: They breed through parthenogenesis. The berried females do not feed a lot when then they are berried. Also, it is rare to see a berried female that often as they prefer to hide until all eggs have hatched.
Compatibility: They are aggressive but are able to live with fish and shrimps.
