Golden Bee Shrimp

detailed-golden-bee-shrimp

Shrimp Name: Golden Bee Shrimp/White Bee (Caridina cf. Cantonensis “Golden Bee”) (High Order)

Origin: China

Description:  If you think the Red Cherry or Crystal Red shrimp are something to behold, then you are dead wrong. I am majestic, I am unique but then all shrimp are. I have a whitish cream colour all over my body. I have different color personalities that range from almost white to golden orange. Furthermore, I have these tattoo-like markings on my carapace and they are almost like my own set of fingerprints unique to me. When fully mature I average 2.5 – 3.5cm. I like well established tanks, that way I can scavenge around for the good stuff. I have a sweet tooth for Shirakura, oak leaves, algae and some flake food. I am really active as I enjoy swimming around.

Water Parameters:  I might look like royalty but when it comes to water requirements I am no different than any of the shrimp. Regular water changes are essential to my survival and any presence of nitrites and ammonia will result in my demise. Temperature ranges of 20C – 24C/ 68F – 76F with a pH of 6.0 – 7.2. Soft to acidic water will do the trick. If am not comfortable with the water conditions my royal white coloration begins fading.

Sexing: It is difficult to sex us but we know ourselves.

Breeding: A big healthy colony will reproduce around the clock. When eggs hatch, our young are born as miniature adults. We are not difficult to breed just as long as basic conditions are observed. Our eggs are reddish brown and our young have a rapid growth rate. We breed around the clock especially when we are happy. The gestation period is 24 – 30 days.

Compatibility: Like most of my kindred, I am not aggressive and can be housed with other smaller fish. But if you really want to see my shrimplets go through a metamorphosis, then I suggest a sole tank dedicated to me. As I am of the Caridina species, I might not be compatible with the following: Bee, Black Tiger, Blue Bee, Blue Tiger, Bumblebee, Crystal, Golden Bee, (Malaya), Orange Bee, Red Tiger, (Stripe), Tiger, White Bee and Dark Green shrimp
