Indian Zebra Shrimp

Shrimp Name: Indian Zebra Shrimp (Caridina sp.)

Origin: India

Description: Have beautiful colors with grayish  stripes. I have a transparent appearance that is offset by black to grayish stripes. When fully mature I average 2.5-3cm. Like all other shrimp, I am an omnivorous eater and my diet can be supplemented with fish flakes and pellets.

Water Parameters: Regular water changes are essential to my wellbeing and survival. Water temperatures of 22-26 °C are sufficient enough, with a higher pH of 7.3-8. We tend to tolerate lower temperatures but are most active when the water temperatures are high.

Sexing: It is very difficult to sex us especially when we are juveniles.

Breeding: A good healthy population of both males and females will trigger breeding at any given time. There are also other elements to consider such as the conditions of the tank. The young do not go through a metamorphosis stage but instead are born as young miniature adults.

Compatibility: Peaceful inverts that should not be housed with any aggressive fish.
