The C) species looks like a dark green shrimp (caridina sp.)

Hi Sonia,

Thanks for trying to identify that Shrimp but unfortunately it does not look like a Green Shrimp. They both have a white stripe but the C species’ line has other criss crossing lines.

B) looks like a Chinese Mystery Snail that can be seen in the Ottawa river – invasive species released from aquariums and/or asians looking to seed local waters with food to grow.

A) vaguely looks like a European Freshwater Nerite, but I don’t think that it’s what it is.

C) Would have also guessed a green cardinia or neocardinia, but second guess would be Indian dwarf shrimp aka Caridina babaulti

Have any interesting nerites currently available? I am looking for several… probably just zebra.

Hey nice pages I would say the shrimp is either a malaya or if it is smaller a indian white back ie caridina babaulti. The malaya can be a wide range of colour, I have several but they are relatively hard to find. The snails I have no idea.
